Jasper Park Lodge – Christmas in November 2014 Edition
Are you someone that has the Food Network going 24/7? Then you need to get yourself tickets to Christmas in November!
We are fortunate enough to have the media launch right here in Edmonton at the Fairmont Hotel Macdonald. They spoil us like you will be spoiled at “Christmas in November”. Some great champagne and appetizers were at our disposal while we got to hear about who would be presenting this year, and we were able to watch a couple of demonstrations. The staff went above and beyond this day – it was incredibly warm.
Due to the heat, Jacqueline of Jacek Chocolate Couture had her work cut out for her. All that chocolate, melty goodness! Jacqueline will be one of the presenters at Christmas in November.
Jacqueline likes to refer to herself as a “Choco-nista” she really puts the fashion into chocolate. Her creations are inventive, beautiful AND delicious. She was able to show us how she tempers chocolate to make a truffle. Only the best ingredients are used. They are almost too beautiful to eat!
Next up were three of my favourite people – Chef Edgar Guitterez, Daniel Bruan and Chris Sills of Tres Carnales. Their demonstration taught us how to make Queso de Flan. Please find the recipe here: A Canadian Foodie (at the bottom of the page).
The flan was creamy and luxurious and very simple to make. Just think of what you might learn at “Christmas in November”!
If you love Tres Carnales, the rumors are true. Tres Carnales will be launching their new venue “Rostizado” which will be located in the old Roast Coffee space in the Mercer Warehouse downtown. I am excited for them and excited to try the new menu.
Christmas in November is largely attended by women. What a great way to have a get away with your BFF, or take your Mom on a mini-vacation. Jasper Park Lodge is breathtakingly beautiful. I grew up near Jasper, so I have had the opportunity to visit a few times. The decor is always opulent. The property is gorgeous, nestled in the mountains. There are so many activities to keep you busy there in the winter as well.
It’s not just for women though; it would also be a great mini-vacation for that husband or sweetheart. Jasper is beautiful after all.
