Mother’s Market – Edmonton’s Newest Indoor Market

Mother’s Market is the latest brainchild of Strawman Bison Farm:

“To continue the growth of Mother’s Market as Edmonton’s pre-eminent Farmers’ Market providing Edmonton residents and visitors with the opportunity to purchase their food directly from farmers and to enable people to come together to celebrate fresh food and understand the direct paddock-to-plate food journey.”

There are 130 stalls in this two floor market.  It is located in the old “Mother’s Music” building at 10251 109 Street in downtown Edmonton.  There are many different vendors to choose from and the opportunity to buy food directly from the farmers themselves.

The market is open Fridays from 10am to 7pm and Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 5pm.

Some of the vendors do have the ability to accept debit and credit, but there are also two ATM machines located on the first floor near the south end of the building. The building does have a ramp and is wheelchair accessible through the north side of the building.

On the second floor, you will find the “food court” vendor kitchens.  There is Native Delights, as well as other vendors that I am sure will grow in numbers with the market.

Downtown Edmonton needed an indoor market that runs all year ’round.  I love the Old Strathcona market as well, but it is nice to have one closer to home.  Free parking is an issue downtown.  There is metre parking on the north side of the building.

Poke your head in sometime soon, you may just discover a new farmer that you will love!
